04. First Pilot of SL TOOL

Period: 11 Jul 2011
This is the 1st pilot of the SLTOOL. During this pilot the following actions will be performed:
1. Identification of the 2 groups per country- The MAIN PREREQUISITE for both groups is the communication in English language (basic level written and oral) as well as the non existence of any knowledge or experience related to the languages of the project. In order to identify the participants each of the countries will use:
email shots, faxing, calls in the newspapers, Radio. A different mix can be used in each country.
2. 14 meetings will run simultaneously in all countries (for each group). During the 14 meetings a thematic section per meeting will be
explored. Each meeting will have a duration of 3 hours including a 15 minutes break.
a. During the 1st hour of the meeting the students will use the platform to learn basics
b. Then students from different countries will communicate through the platform(pairs of two), making conversations on the topics & exchanging knowledge. The conversation will be performed in BOTH native languages of the students (one conversation after the other).
c. These conversations will be reviewed by the trainers of both countries (if a student from Greece has a conversation with a
student from Austria in the German language then the Austrian facilitator will assess the conversation of the Greek student &
vice versa)
d. Students will have targets on the number of conversations with different countries. The learners must select one languages and focus on that only
3.An interim evaluation of the SLTOOL will be performed by the learners during the 7th meeting (evaluation form is developed under the WP 5

4. A final evaluation of the SLTOOL will be performed during the 14th meeting
5.During the 15th meeting the assessment tool will be used to assess the performance of the learners and as a result the effectiveness of SLTOOL.
